Oftentimes it really isn't up to the entrepreneurs. When cash is tight, they'd have to do things themselves, no matter how tedious those tasks are. No one likes to do dirty work. If they're willing to do it then it at least shows their determination and commitment.

What is a 'dirty work' and what is not so, are questions answers of which should be clear to the individual concerned. 'Getting down and doing dirty work' should be regarded as a process of learning and this learning will sure to pay dividend at appropriate time. The only problem rests in the fact that time to be spared for such 'dirty work' is actually to be lent from the time when you have serious and scheduled assignment.

Suster also pointed out in his original post that getting down and doing the dirty work would help entrepreneurs separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes the time to hire help. They'd know whether the candidate would be up for the task since they know exactly what needs to be done and effective ways to get it done.

Methinks Mark Suster’s way of approach is better to face the dry time and obviously it is an assurance to find chances to rejoice when the peacocks stretch their multi-colored wings and begin to dance. Down-to-dirty works, marketing-sales-designing logo of the company, if learned willingly or even under compulsion, are sure to pay dividend during a long-drawn drought period. It is better to flip the burgers and learn workings of a company. Parallel to this one should take care of the fact that one can never be all-in-one as ‘Armies of One’ have been referred.
I have seen a little theater group, Alkap, to grow in a little known railway suburban of Kharagpur following the same approach and I have seen it when I was a minor.
